State Influence in the Presidential Selection Process

The frontloading trend in the presidential primary system has been widely criticized for creating disparities among states their level of influence over selection process. This article examines general motivations, benefits, and consequences state participation frontloading. It focuses upon Pennsylvania, which not joined trend. Presidential primaries Pennsylvania have become increasingly uncompetitive due to other states. Comparative analysis with Ohio forecasting based on voting history suggest that an earlier 2000 would resulted only more candidate competitiveness campaign activity, but also voter choice turnout. Yet, fear increased administrative burdens disruption electoral status quo stopped Pennsylvania's legislators from adopting change.
